Dorney Park
Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom, located in Allentown PA, needed a website that could balance two objectives – preserve the feel of an amusement park rooted in tradition and loved by many who have grown up with it, but also showcase new, dynamic investments that would appeal to thrill-seekers. The final result: a website that caters to the entire family -- whether young or old, adventurous or laid-back.
The home page immediately addresses the most common visitors' reasons for coming to the site: season passes, summer jobs, and the highly popular Wildwater Kingdom water park are prominently featured, as well as their new roller coaster, Hydra: The Revenge. Harnessing the awesome flexibility offered by Macromedia Flash, after a brief loading period, the Hydra animation video begins to stream in – no doubt making eager park-goers anticipate their next ride even more.
An easy-to-navigate dropdown menu bar quickly lets visitors browse around the site. Calendars of operation, show schedules, park maps, and even a virtual tour are all integrated into the colorful design to ensure that finding the information you need is fun, too. One can even send out electronic e-cards to friends, or complete an interactive Mad Libs story!
Proving that information doesn't need to always be delivered via straight, dull HTML, flash technology is once again subtly used on every page to display news flashes, as well as integrate with the back-end database to show the current day's operating hours.
Finally, visitors curious to learn more about Hydra will encounter a graphically rich subsite that incorporates 3D renderings of the ride alongside a brilliant, organic design and color scheme.
